To achieve our goal, the ‘Desert Life’ project sends out field workers (also known as tent makers) to live as Christians in word and deed in countries where no open church is allowed to exist. In personal contact, they share the Gospel and try to work to build up the small, sometimes underground, church that exists in almost every closed Muslim country. In Arab countries where an above-ground church does exist, our workers seek cooperation with the local church.
In word and deed
To achieve our goal, the Desert Life project sends out field workers (also called tent makers) to live as Christians in word and deed in countries where no open church is allowed to exist. Our employees live with and next to the people of the country. In personal contact they share the Gospel and try to work on building the small, sometimes underground, church that exists in almost every Muslim country. In Arab countries where an above-ground church exists, our workers seek cooperation with the local church. The field workers of Desert Life work in the Arab world. It extends from Iraq in the east, Egypt in the west, to the Arabian Peninsula in the south. For security reasons, we cannot say exactly where our employees are located, but they work in several countries in this region. We must also be careful when mentioning the names of those who are involved.
Several Desert Life projects
More Muslims than ever before are turning away from the violence of radical Islam and finding peace in the gospel of Jesus Christ. But How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? Romans 10:14-15 It is our wish and prayer to be a small link here with the Desert Life Elim, Desert Life Saron, Desert Life Mozes and Desert Life Hagar projects. For security reasons, names and images of those involved cannot be published.
Also called to go?
We hope and pray that the Lord will give even more people the desire to be deployed for long term, it is desperately needed. There are also options to go for short term. There are still millions of people living in the Islamic world who have never met a follower of Jesus. The fields are white for harvest, but there are few workers. Although many countries in the Middle East are not open to missionaries, it is still possible to share the Gospel in word and deed – even in closed countries and even with a family.
